United Way Kicks Off Virtual Resource Drive

United Way Kicks Off Virtual Resource Drive

Terre Haute, IN – The United Way of the Wabash Valley has officially kicked off its 2020 Annual Community Resource Drive. Today’s kickoff marks the start of their annual effort to shine a light on our communities most daunting social issues while raising needed funds to address their root causes. The Annual Resource Drive is a vital part of the organization’s work because the funds raised by the United Way go to fight poverty and build a brighter future by working towards the bold goal of moving 10,000 families out of financial struggles and into stability. A Community Resource Drive has been a staple in the community for over 60 years. With all funds raised staying in the United Way’s six-county service area including Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo in Indiana and Clark in Illinois.

This year, because of the current climate surrounding COVID, United Way’s fundraising efforts will look a little different. While the strength of United Way’s fundraising has been the ability to partner with local businesses and allow their employees the opportunity to interact and learn about the United Way. This
year United Way has adapted to the current workplace and community environment and created virtual opportunities. A new online user experience is available for workplaces that gives employees the opportunity to learn about the work of the organization. This platform also provides easy donation options the workplace can customize including user-friendly employee payroll deductions to direct donations to the United Way. In addition, the United Way has their Choose Your Impact website (uwwv.org/choose) for individuals who wish to learn about the United Way and if they choose, they can donate directly to United Way’s work that matters most to them.

Danielle Isbell, Resource Development Director of the United Way of the Wabash Valley explained, “We truly value the relationships we have with our local businesses and are going to miss the opportunity to travel throughout the Wabash Valley to meet employees and let them know the great work we are
doing in our community. But we understand the need to adjust, and are excited about the virtual options we are creating to engage community support to continue the work that our community so desperately still needs.”

“I am proud to support United Way’s work in our community,” stated Nathan Vooys, CEO of Terre Haute Regional Hospital and this year’s Resource Drive Ambassador. “COVID has exposed the already tremendous amount of need in our community. United Way was working to address the root causes of
poverty before COVID and will continue tackling these tough issues into the future. In addition to their life changing work in education, health, financial stability, and community building, they were able to step up to the plate and provide immediate assistance from the very beginning of the pandemic. With

local business and community support they have been able to invest over $940,000, in just the past 6 months, to organizations providing assistance to those struggling in our community because of the effects of COVID. Now more than ever we need to continue to support United Way in their work to create a stronger community for us all. I am asking our local business leaders to answer the call and reach out to United Way.”

Included in our virtual Community Resource Drive is the continuation of a great partnership with Terre Haute Chevrolet as they are again providing an amazing incentive to the community to donate to the United Way. This year they are providing a $10,000 cash prize giveaway to a lucky donor. Terre Haute
Chevrolet’s General Manager, Kevin Cauble, explained, “Terre Haute Chevrolet values the community we serve and we believe the United Way is taking the right approach by focusing on the root causes of poverty and struggling working families. Their work needs our support and we hope all local businesses
and the community will embrace this much needed community organization. We wanted to lead the way with by providing this extra incentive to donors.”

Donors can earn chances to win the cash incentive based on their level of donor support. Entries for the $10,000 cash drawing are earned by:
