Small Business Week Spotlight: Feminine Mystique

April 29 through May 6 is national Small Business Week. To celebrate, we’re highlighting local small business owners/entrepreneurs.

Name: Bonnie Bolinger, Ph.D

Business Name: Feminine Mystique

Business Address: 825 S. 7th Street Trre Haute, IN  47807

Business Website: www.femininemystiquellc.com

How many years have you been in business? We opened on June 30, 2017

Tell us about your business and what you do. Besides selling beautiful merchandise from the Victorian period and beyond, people are encouraged to come in and see this historic house which was built in 1894 by Henry Miller of Miller-Parrott Bakery.  The store really caters to women, but everyone is certainly welcome to come in and visit.

Do you have any advice for someone starting their own business?  Do your due diligence and put together a comprehensive business plan.  Work with the Small Business Development Center, take business classes, and get experience in the industry that you are planning on entering.  Even with all that knowledge, you will still find that there are a wealth of details that you will have to wade through.  Be sure and have money saved up, because your first year(s) in business will most likely not be what you imagined.
