Lt. Governor Engages In Conversation About West Central Indiana Business Hub

Terre Haute, Ind. – Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch visited West Central Indiana on Tuesday, meeting with members of the business community for a lunch and conversation about COVID-19 recovery efforts.

The meeting served as an opportunity for the Lt. Governor to learn more about the efforts of the West Central Indiana Business Hub COVID-19 Response Team, along with the general impact COVID-19 has had on the West Central business community.

The hour-long meeting was one of a small handful of meetings Crouch has had since the COVID-19 pandemic began. She applauded West Central Indiana’s collaboration.

“I haven’t been made aware of other COVID-19 Response Task Forces in other communities. I would suspect that there are some but probably needs to be one in every community in the state,” Crouch said. “Again, Terre Haute is rising to the top and being proactive and taking the initiative and not waiting for someone else to come and fix the problem but they are coming together to understand how they can best help people in this very challenging time.”

Topics discussed during the candid conversation; state and federal funding, education, business support and available resources for local business in West Central Indiana.

“One of the most positive things about the conversation was the fact the Lieutenant Governor kept saying, ‘What can I do to help?’ and ‘How can we help at the state level’,” says Chamber President Kristin Craig. “Businesses should be encouraged by the willingness of state officials to help and provide resources. Work is being done in terms of recovery.”

Along with Craig many community leaders attended the meeting, hosted at the Hilton Garden Inn Terre Haute House. Attendees included Mayor Duke Bennett, representatives from RJL Solutions including CEO Rachel Leslie and other regional business and economic professionals.
