Job Description
Since 1939, the mission of Johns Dental Laboratories has been to provide the highest level of quality in all of our dental prosthetics and appliances-one case at a time. We do this by employing highly skilled technicians who we consider our greatest asset, while reinvesting in new technology and techniques to better serve our doctors and their patients.
This is an entry level technician position. We will train the right candidate.
Job purpose
Maintain and improve patients' oral health by fabricating fixed and removable prostheses according to dentist prescriptions.
Duties and responsibilities
·Corrects dental irregularities by manufacturing appliances.
·Constructs prostheses by following the dentist prescription; making models of the mouth and teeth from impressions of the patient’s mouth taken by the dentist; building-up wax replicas of part or all of the mouth and/or teeth on the model; encasing the wax in a mold material and melting away the wax; replacing the wax with plastic, metal, or ceramic materials to make the replacement appliance; polishing and finishing the appliance prior to its being placed in the patient’s mouth by the dentist.
·Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
·Utilizes and conserves supplies and equipment; maintaining supplies inventories; keeping equipment operating.
·Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
·Updates dental laboratory technician job knowledge and skills by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
·Enhances dental laboratory reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
High School diploma or equivalent
Excellent time management and organization skills
Attention to detail
Ability to focus and multitask
Ability to meet strict deadlines
Working conditions
Work will be done in a smoke free, climate-controlled office with limited exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and airborne particles.
Physical requirements
Sitting, bending, reaching and flexing arms, wrists, hands and fingers, grasping, turning torso and head. The position will require patience while performing repetitive tasks.
