Give to Blue Day at Indiana State Scheduled for March 11

On Founders Day, donor goal for Give to Blue Day is a nod to ISU history

January 29, 2020

Indiana State University commemorated its past at Founders Day on Wednesday while announcing a goal for the future — 1,865 donors for Give to Blue Day on March 11.

Organizers of the second annual 24-hour fundraising event used the year of ISU’s founding, 1865, as inspiration for the goal.

“The 1,865 donor goal pays tribute to the year Indiana State was founded and celebrates all Sycamores,” said Andrea Angel, vice president for university advancement and CEO of the ISU Foundation. “Indiana State’s second annual Give to Blue Day will be memorable not only because it’s based on our founding year but because of the increase in donor support. All alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of Indiana State are invited to participate.”

Donors on Give to Blue Day will be able to choose where at ISU they want their contribution used, and specific initiatives will also be highlighted.

Last year’s inaugural Give to Blue Day raised $436,243, a single-day record for ISU. There were 1,691 donors.

“I’m asking our loyal and generous Sycamore community to help us set another record,” ISU President Deborah Curtis said. “Your donation, wherever you choose to direct it at ISU, will benefit students and help our university reach even greater heights.”

ISU is currently accepting matching and challenge gifts ahead of Give to Blue Day. For more information, contact the Division of University Advancement at 812-237-6131 or hilary.duncan@indstate.edu.

University Advancement is also seeking students, faculty, staff, community members, alumni, parents, and friends to be social ambassadors for Give to Blue Day. Social ambassadors spread the word about Give to Blue Day on social media, in part by using the #GiveToBlueDay hashtag. Details are available at indstate.edu/GiveToBlue.

“Founders Day celebrates Indiana State University and honors the past, present and future,” said Rex Kendall, executive director of the Indiana State University Alumni Association. “For 155 years, Indiana State University has positively impacted the economy at the local, state, and national levels. ISU has transformed the lives of graduates, and continues to do so with our current students. We are definitely proud of our history and we are excited about the future.”
