Clinton’s Four Seasons Fountain To Get Boost From Local Organizations

Clinton, IN – A landmark in the City of Clinton is getting some much needed attention from two Vermillion County organizations.

On Monday, July 22, the non-profit organization, Rediscover Clinton and the City of Clinton will present Clinton’s LIFT Board with funds earmarked for restorations to the city’s historic Four Seasons Fountain which overlooks the Wabash River.

The LIFT Board, was formed in 1966 to spearhead tourism in Clinton. The group, an acronym for Little Italy Festival Town, organizes the annual Little Italy Festival, among other projects. Construction of the fountain was the LIFT Board’s first project. Recently the group determined restoration on the fountain and statues was needed to prevent further deterioration.

During Monday’s presentation, Rediscover Clinton will donate $200 and Clinton Mayor Jack Gilfoy will also donate $200 on behalf of the City of Clinton.

Restoration work is already underway. The first phase will repair and restore the fountain’s base; filling cracks, sealing surfaces, painting and general maintenance. The estimated cost of the first phase is $1,250.

The second phase will include restoration of the accompanying four statutes, cost estimated at $2,600 for restoration and $500 for paint and sealer.
