Chamber Urges Community to Celebrate Small Business Saturday

Terre Haute, Ind. – With the holiday shopping season ramping up the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce is urging residents to shop small this year. Small Business Saturday serves as a great opportunity to enjoy special deals and offerings from these businesses.

This year, the Chamber is helping celebrate those small and locally-owned businesses that make up our business sector. Shoppers from around the region are encouraged to visit: terrehautechamber.com/smallbusinesssaturday, which will serve as a hub for anyone looking to support these businesses.

The site will feature deals and special offerings from the small businesses that are participating. It will also feature a map that shows each participating business.

“The majority of our chamber members are small businesses,” said Lindsey English, membership engagement manager. “We know the everyday hurdles these businesses overcome and we’re proud to help in any way we can.”

According to a study by the American Independent Business Alliance, 68% of money spent at a small business stays local, which proves the impact of shopping small is felt long after the purchase. Supporting small businesses shouldn’t be reserved for a Saturday in November, every shopping trip offers residents a chance to help stimulate the local economy.

“As we continue to see positive momentum with our economy in the West Central Indiana region it’s important to remember how our local small businesses impact the community, ” Executive Director Kristin Craig said.

The Chamber will be distributing flyers for businesses to display that will feature a QR code to take users to the Small Businesses Saturday website as well as sharing the link on social media. For more information email Lindsey English at Lenglish@terrehautechamber.com
