Chamber Hosts 110th Annual Meeting in Downtown Terre Haute

Terre Haute, Ind. – The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce hosted its 110th Annual Meeting on Thursday at the Terre Haute Convention Center. The theme of the evening was “See You In Terre Haute” which highlights how our community is taking pride in the positive momentum recently seen in West Central Indiana.

The evening served as the debut of a new talent attraction and retention video that was filmed around the community over the past several months. The video will be used as a way for local businesses and organizations to spread the word about all the great features and assets that Terre Haute offers.

Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch was on hand to provide comments, along with Congressman Larry Bucshon, Mayor Duke Bennett and several other state and local elected officials.

“Being a part of the community coming together to celebrate everyone making a positive impact on the region is such an honor for the Chamber,” said Kristin Craig, Executive Director of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce. “We have so much to be proud of when it comes to the direction of Terre Haute, from continued downtown development, exciting new industries and forward momentum with the See You In Terre Haute Community Plan, the annual meeting serves as a way to share all the positives.”

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of three awards:

Building Business – Sponsored by CenterPoint Energy, this award recognizes an outstanding business that has brought significant economic growth to the region. In particular, this award recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit of those who take risks and make investments in time and money to grow businesses and jobs. This year, the award was presented to Saturn Petcare, Inc.

Saturn Petcare, Inc. joined the community in 2019. With the purchase of a building in the Industrial Park, they quickly made their presence known.

After extensive remodeling of the facility, Saturn Petcare began producing sellable products in April of 2021. Since then, they have produced close to 25,000 tons of wet pet food. They are currently in the process of doubling their capacity, a project that is expected to be completed in 2025.

Building Community – Sponsored by Indiana State University, this award is designed to recognize an organization or individual(s) for making significant progress toward enhancing the quality of life in the West Central region. This year, the award was presented to Union Health.

Their local workforce impact. Union Health consistently remains a driver of creative and collaborative programs to create a growing pipeline of healthcare providers to serve the entire healthcare industry in West Central Indiana. The Chamber is grateful for the support of Union Hospital and the many collaborations with the community and in the local healthcare industry.

Leading Tomorrow – Sponsored by RJL Solutions, this award recognizes an incredible leader in our community, who is helping our community prepare for the future, particularly in efforts related to the See You in Terre Haute Community Plan. The award was presented to Susan Turner.

As Executive Director of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, Susan Turner has continued to move this incredible community asset forward and is now making plans for continued growth. In addition to her work at the Children’s Museum, she has many credits to her name; a founding member of the Terre Haute Young Leaders group, a co-creator of the Wabash Valley Leadership Institute and now currently serves as co-chair of the See You in Terre Haute Community Plan’s Tourism Task Force.
