Chamber Hires Austen Leake as Director of Communications

Terre Haute, Ind. – Austen Leake, a Terre Haute native, has joined the Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Communications. Leake previously worked with the Sisters of Providence and the Tribune-Star.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Austen’s expertise and knowledge of the community join our team,” said Kristin Craig, Executive Director, Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce. “His commitment to the community will not only help share the mission of the Chamber, but help us as we promote the entire community through the See You in Terre Haute Community Plan as well.”

Leake has hit the ground running with the annual Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce City Update with Mayor Duke Bennett coming up on January 26. Leake will work to promote the event in the coming weeks. He hopes to further strengthen the bond between the community and the business sector through events like the City Update.

Leake’s close ties to the community stem from his time as a photojournalist for the Tribune-Star where he was able to get to know the West Central Indiana institutions and individuals that make Terre Haute and the surrounding area so special.

“I have always been very proud of Terre Haute and believe that the future holds great things for West Central Indiana,” he said. “I look forward to being a part of the city’s next chapter and telling that story.”

A 2014 graduate of Indiana State University, Leake has been involved in projects with local organizations like Art Spaces, Ryves Youth Center and numerous others. “I have a lot of enthusiasm for telling stories,” Leake explained. “ Whether it’s through writing, photography or videography, I really enjoy spreading the word about the positive aspects of our community.”

Leake’s goals at the Chamber are to advance the goals of the community as a whole and help spread the word about all the positive things Terre Haute has to offer. During his time in the media he loved working on stories about new and interesting businesses that opened or expanded.

Leake is the father of two sons and resides on Terre Haute’s eastside.
