HI99 WTHI Radio Named #1 Country Station in the United States
TERRE HAUTE, IN (Feb. 22, 2022) HI-99 WTHI Radio is the #1 rated Country radio station in the nation, according the Nielsen Radio Ratings for Fall 2021. Nielsen surveys over 200 radio markets in the US making this a marked achievement.
Locally, HI-99 has been the most listened to radio station in the Wabash Valley for over 5 years and has been a staple in the community for the last 40 years – signing on for the first time in 1982.
The ratings success of HI-99 is a direct result of deep community roots and engagement with local listeners on a number of charitable causes. The greatest example of that is the Breakfast Bribe segment, airing every Friday morning where local nonprofit organizations and events are invited in for a few minutes of free airtime and a donation to the cause in exchange for some tasty breakfast goodies.
HI-99 has also organized a handful of blood drives with the American Red Cross over the last year encouraging blood donations in a time where they are in short supply locally and nationally. To date, drives hosted by HI-99 have resulted in enough units to help save up to 273 lives in a hospital setting.
Additionally, HI-99 boasts a recent successful two day Radiothon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, raising $83,325. This is the second highest total raised in HI-99’s 32 year partnership with the charitable organization. The previous record was set in 1999 with a little over $100,000 raised making this recent achievement the most money raised for St. Jude in a single year in 23 years.
