Vigo County History Center Announces, “Will You Remember My Name? – Three Unforgettable Terre Haute Black Women”

Join the Vigo County Historical Museum in the auditorium for a special program this Saturday, August 21 at 2:00pm. Visitors to the museum are invited to attend a presentation by Dr. Crystal Mikell Reynolds and ISU Alumni with music by ISU conductor, Dr. Roby George: “Will You Remember My Name? – Three Unforgettable Terre Haute Black Women”

It has been Dr. Reynolds’ mission is to bring awareness to the community of ISU’s unique history of diversity. In this program, Dr. Reynolds along with ISU alumni will perform a reading with music on the lives of three exceptional black women alumnae: Ambassador, Dr. Cynthia Shepard Perry, Aviatrix, Willa Brown Chappell, and the Honorable Z. Mae Perkins Jimison- Superior Court judge.

Program is included with admission or free for museum members. The museum, now open at 929 Wabash Avenue strongly supports the continued education of cultural and ethnic heritage. Through a number of programs and exhibits, like the African American Experience display in the County History Exhibit, they promote the influence and accomplishments of Terre Haute’s early Black community.

Executive Director of the museum, Marla Flowers hopes visitors will gain educational experiences as well as a sense of pride for our community through this progressive program.
