From Chamber President Kristin Craig: January 2021 Legislative Update

The Chamber of Commerce continues to make Advocacy and the legislative process a main priority for our members. If you and/or your business would like to further engage in advocacy efforts and receive additional information, visit the Advocacy Priorities section of our website or upgrade your membership via the Advocacy Interest Area Add-On. For more information, contact Katie Shane, kshane@terrehautechamber.com.

The start of 2021 has also brought an onslaught of actions at all levels of government, local, state and federal. Whether it be unwinding the details of the newest stimulus package, keeping tabs on bills at the state legislature or working to develop relationships with our newest local leaders, the new year has been fast-paced to say the least. But rest assured, the Chamber team is here to help navigate all of these with a business focused approach. We will be providing periodic updates on activities and legislation that may have an impact on your business via the weekly newsletter and industry-specific communications.

Here are just a few of the things we are watching on your behalf:

  • State Legislature – SB5 and HB1002 – Employer Liability Bills
Both of these bills are designed to limit employer liability for COVID-19 related exposures. We are closely following along with the progress of each bill as it could have significant implications for the business community.

  • Federal Stimulus and COVID Relief – We are closely watching the latest rollout of the PPP and working with industry experts to interpret its various provisions. We are also staying in close contact with our local banks and lending institutions to ensure you have all the information you need to apply for funds.

All Chamber members are invited to join our monthly Advocacy Forums where we will cover these topics and more. Registration is required.
