West Central Indiana Business Hub Launches, Along with COVID-19 Response Team

Terre Haute, Ind.  – Local resource organizations are joining together to continue service to the business community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s called the “West Central Indiana Business Hub” and the first order of business was launching a “COVID-19 Response Team”.

Made up of organizations that already work with the business community, the group includes the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, Indiana State University – Business Engagement Center, Launch Terre Haute, West Central Indiana Economic Development District, City of Terre Haute, RJL Solutions (Advocacy Partner), Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation and Work One.

“The Business Hub is something that has been in discussions for months, but once we began to see such a great need in the wake of COVID-19 we really pulled together to start work,” says Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce President Kristin Craig. “They say there’s strength in numbers and that’s what our community really needs right now.”

Currently the organization has two main goals; to create a centralized response team to address questions from the business community and capture community data regarding specific concerns and financial loss.

Business leaders, managers and decision makers are asked to complete an online assessment; click here. Not only will the data collected be used to center in on the greatest need of the business community, but individual questions and requests will be addressed by members of the Response Team. Services are available to any business in the six-county West Central Indiana region, although this is geared specifically towards small businesses, those with less than 500 employees.

“We have all been voicing that we are in this together and I think the collaboration of nearly a dozen organizations really shows that unity,” Craig says. “While much of the group is based in Terre Haute, we are working to pull in resources and experts from the entire six-county region.

The assessment is currently available online. Anyone with questions can also call the Chamber office, (812) 232-2391.
