2020 Wabash Valley Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk

2020 Wabash Valley Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk

Susan G. Komen is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Komen has set a Bold Goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026.

Komen was founded in 1982 by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life. Komen Central Indiana is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community. Through events like the Komen Central Indiana MORE THAN PINK Walk®, Komen Central Indiana has invested more than $20 million in community
breast health programs in 41 counties and has helped contribute to the more than $988 million invested globally in research.

In order to reach our bold goal, we needed to make bold changes. We needed to evolve, like so many other organizations have. So, we changed the name, lost the “run”, and are focusing on our people –how we connect with our participants, sponsors, team captains and corporate teams. Changing the name is simply to highlight the fact that we are all more than just a color – it enables us to better
connect our supporters to the full breadth of the work we do to save lives. The work that Susan G.Komen, PINK of Terre Haute, and many other breast cancer organizations is so much more than a color. I encourage you to learn more about what our organizations do and help in some way, whether that’s monetary or sponsoring, joining us for events, or volunteering.

This year, the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk, Wabash Valley, will take place on October 10, 2020, on the beautiful St. Mary of the Wood’s campus. We would love to see as many corporate teams as possible and welcome the opportunity to meet with your staff to help kickoff your fundraiser. If you’re interested, please contact us in the Terre Haute office located in the Meadows.

Stay tuned for our Walk kickoff events beginning in May!
