Sisters of Providence to Host at the largest and longest-running Earth Day celebration in West Central Indiana
Join the Sisters of Providence at the largest and longest-running Earth Day celebration in West Central Indiana. The Earth Day Festival and Craft Fair will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, April 27, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute.
This year’s celebration will offer a host of exhibits, the craft fair, pony rides, garden and horse barn tours, a nature trail hike, spinning, weaving and felting demonstrations, and much more.
Back this year will be Mark Booth’s Take Flight! Wildlife Education program. Based in Indianapolis, Booth’s program will stress the importance of the natural world while utilizing a handful of birds of prey.
Cooking demonstrations – led by The Maple Center – will also take place, and the Congregation’s Climate Change Task Force will conduct a Bingo game. The Sisters of Providence will also offer a bake sale.
Craft Fair vendors will be set up in the O’Shaughnessy Dining Room. And while you’re checking out the Craft Fair in O’Shaughnessy, don’t forget to stop by Linden Leaf Gifts in Providence Spirituality & Conference Center.
White Violet Center for Eco-Justice associate Candace Minster will conduct an “Ask the Gardener” pop up event in the garden from 1 to 3 p.m.
Enjoy spending time shopping at the Farm Store, where you can purchase handmade and locally produced items, including soaps, alpaca fiber goods, wood carvings, pottery and more. And while you’re checking out the Craft Fair in O’Shaughnessy, don’t forget to stop by Linden Leaf Gifts in Providence Spirituality & Conference Center.
In fact, don’t just come to Earth Day. Enjoy your entire day west of the Wabash River as the Wabashiki Art Fair will take place at the Wabashiki Fish and Wildlife Area in West Terre Haute, as well as the fourth annual Emily’s Walk taking place at Dewey Point. All proceeds from the West Terre Haute events will benefit the Wabashiki.
Admission to Earth Day is free, but donations will be warmly welcomed.
