By Cheryl Casselman, Sisters of Providence marketing manager

Supporting Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce members is easy when it involves getting outside with your friends and family on a spring day at beautiful Saint Mary-of- the-Woods!

So grab your walking shoes, clear off some space on your phone for new photos and head out to enjoy the annual Earth Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.

Be the first to shop at the new Farm Store at White Violet Center opening that day and maybe be the winner of a composter. Purchase organic vegetables grown at Saint Mary-of- the-Woods, farm fresh eggs and locally produced items like maple syrup and honey.

The day includes mini workshops, pony rides, live animal and bird shows, shopping at the new farm store, food and educational vendors.

National Public Radio WFIU’s Annie Corrigan will be there autographing her new Earth Eats book. There will be mini workshops on making healthy smoothies and salads; a professional home-energy assessment workshop; a Lobbying 101 workshop; an alpaca shearing demonstration; and tours of Sister Jody O’Neal’s art studio and Mari Hulman George School of Equine Studies stables.

Bring your bikes to have them blessed by the Sisters of Providence during the bicycle blessing and check out the popular Sisters of Providence bake sale.

A detailed schedule for the day will be added to WhiteViolet.org soon. There will be opportunities for freewill donations at the entrance gates.

Make a day of it Also on April 22, Emily’s Walk begins at 9 a.m. at the head of the Wabashiki Trail in West Terre Haute; the Wabashiki Art Fair is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bill Wolfe Studio adjacent to Dewy Point Shelter in West Terre Haute; and the Wabash Valley March for Science begins at 5 p.m. at the Indiana State University fountain.
