The Civic Engagement Series of West Central Indiana is the region’s premier civic leadership program that has been thoughtfully designed for residents who want to make a meaningful impact through public service. Whether you’re aiming for a seat on a city council, joining a school board or even considering running for state and federal position, this series will give you the tools, knowledge and confidence to take the next step.

- It’s Practical. Each session is designed to give you real-world insight into public service and civic leadership. 
- It’s Nonpartisan. Learn about government without specific political affiliations.

Curriculum Highlights
- Understanding Local Government Roles. Get familiar with how city and county offices function and how decisions are made at the local level. 
- State Government Structure. Explore how Indiana’s state government operates and connects with local government. 
- Leadership and Decision-Making. Learn Strategies for navigating complex decisions and leading with clarity and integrity. 
This is a select program with significant resources put behind it. Commitment is important. It is required that all participants attend at least 4 of the 6 events. The following are dates for the 2026 Civic Engagement Series.
