United Way and Terre Haute Chevrolet to Giveaway a New Car to a Lucky Donor!

Terre Haute –The United Way of the Wabash Valley’s work is focusing on ALICE, or the struggling working families, in our community.  ALICE is an acronym that stands for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed, and represents those that fall above the federal poverty line but still don’t earn enough to make ends meet.  The work will focus on the bold goal of moving 10,000 families out of financial struggles and into stability.  In order to accomplish this the United Way is facilitating its annual Resource Drive to build a community impact fund.  This fund will be invested in problem-solving collaborations, innovative funding opportunities and community engagement.

In order to add an incentive to donor’s they have partnered with with Terre Haute Chevrolet for the 8th consecutive year to give away a new car.  “At Terre Haute Chevrolet, we are proud to be able to give back to our community and those served by United Way,” said Jack Patterson, General Manager as he announced that the Chevrolet Dealership has donated a brand new 2018 Chevrolet Spark valued at over $14,000 (MSRP) to the United Way.  Since 2011, United Way has used this generous gift to stimulate donations in the Valley.

Richard Payonk, Executive Director of United Way of the Wabash Valley stated, “We appreciate our partnership with Terre Haute Chevrolet and their donation of a 2018 Chevy Spark to our United Way.  They are a great example of a business leading the way to a better community.  Their generosity has helped the community by helping us to grow our resources and allowing us to create a positive impact in our community.   Hopefully, it will also change the life for the winner of the car.”

Donors can earn chances to win the car based on their donor support.  Any donation of at least $25 from a new donor, or a donation from a previous donor that has increased from the previous year by at least $25, automatically enters the donor in the drawing for the new car.  A new gift of $50 equals two entries and so on.   There is also an incentive to local workplaces by giving two additional entries for every donor at any workplace that increases their number of donors by 20% from 2017.

Donations must be submitted by December 31, 2018 for a chance to win.  The car will be officially awarded to the winner at the 2019 United Way of the Wabash Valley Annual Meeting.  If your workplace is interested in participating in the Resource Drive or you would like more information about getting involved please contact Danielle Isbell at 812-235-6287 or disbell@uwwv.org.
