Terre Haute Symphony Receives Generous Grant from Hollie & Anna Oakley Foundation

[Terre Haute, IN] – The Hollie and Anna Oakley Foundation has awarded the Terre Haute Symphony a generous grant of $15,000 to continue supporting the THSO’s mission to provide Great Music! Close to Home in the Wabash Valley. The grant will continue to support the symphony’s education programs including their annual Adventures in Music programs for are 4th graders and operating costs for their annual subscription series of concerts.

“To have the support of the Oakley Foundation in Terre Haute means the world to the THSO. We are honored to be part of their investment in the community and the Wabash Valley. Their support is critical to the THSO’s ability to continue providing our education programs and subscription concert series each season,” commented Samantha Johnson-Helms, Executive Director and Principal Clarinet.

The Oakley Foundation’s impact can be seen throughout Terre Haute, including the Oakley Auditorium at Ivy Tech, the Oakley Place arched monument on ISU’s campus at the corner of Third and Chestnut, Oakley Playground at Deming Park, Oakley Observatory at Rose-Hulman, and exhibition support for the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.

With the Oakley Foundation’s support, the THSO will be able to continue providing concert and educational programs for the Wabash Valley during the pandemic including expanded concert offerings, additional virtual content on their social media and YouTube pages, and continued virtual student engagement activities during the orchestra’s annual Adventures in Music educational concerts in Spring 2022.

The Oakley Foundation was formed to promote religious, educational and charitable purposes, particularly in the states of Indiana and Florida. The Oakley Foundation has a eight-member Board of Trustees whose responsibilities include the management of the foundation’s funds, properties, the grant-making process, and management of the foundation’s business affairs.
