Terre Haute Children’s Museum celebrates ‘Delicious Downtown’

Come play with your food!  Well, not exactly the food you put in your mouth, but you’ll experiment with food as the Terre Haute Children’s Museum joins in the Delicious Downtown First Friday celebration on November 2.  From 5 – 8 pm, the Museum will host a variety of activities to help children discover the properties of their food.

Discover Gingerwhere milk comes from as children will get up close and personal with a cow and her calf. Both the cow named Star and her newborn calf Ginger are looking forward to visiting the Museum with their owners.

Once you have met the cow, discover how milk gets from the moo to you. A twenty-minute farm-to-table demonstration will be offered three times throughout the evening at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30. Audience members will experiment with milking machines, chilling milk for storage, then turning milk into cottage cheese and butter, right in front of your eyes.

Additional activity stations planned and staffed by students from Indiana State University’s department of teaching and learning will showcase other aspects of food. With so much to do, you won’t want to miss this “mootastic” good time!
