Launch Terre Haute Announces New Director

Terre Haute, Ind.  – A familiar face in the community and a longtime supporter of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce will be stepping into a new role as the Director of Launch Terre Haute and West Central Indiana Business Hub.

Chamber President Kristin Craig announced on Thursday that Jared Ell has accepted the position and will be starting later this fall.

“For years we have watched Jared excel in his career and devote so much time and energy into the community,” Craig says. “He’s been a strong supporter and advocate for business in West Central Indiana and we are excited to see him work with entrepreneurs and small business.”

Adds Ell, “I’ve watched the Chamber, Launch and countless other organizations work for years to support local business and economic development, I’ve cheered them on along the way, and now I’m excited to get off the sidelines and into the game. I can’t wait to work with our local business leaders and capture the potential we have here in the Wabash Valley!”

Along with his role at Launch, Ell will work with the West Central Indiana Business Hub as a referral specialist for COVID-19 resources.

The West Central Indiana Business Hub was created earlier this year to help assess COVID-19’s impact on the business community and quickly connect individuals with the resources they need to keep their business going. An initiative created under the Chamber umbrella and a partner with the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, the Business Hub continues to collect data and aid any for-profit or non-profit business in the six-county West Central Indiana region. “As resources continue to change in regards to COVID relief efforts at the Federal, state, and local level Jared will stay up to date with all resources and be able to create a road map for businesses that need assistance due to COVID,” explains West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center Regional Director Courtney Chipol. “As part of the ISBDC, all COVID relief efforts we will be rolling out at the state and local level, in which Jared will be working one-on-one with clients to assist.”

Currently Ell serves as the Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy for Residential Life and Housing at Indiana State University. He is also a volunteer for Downtown Terre Haute and the 2020 co-chair of Leadership Connect of West Central Indiana, a branch of the Chamber of Commerce. Through Leadership Connect Ell was named Emerging Leader of the Year in 2019.

No stranger to working with small business, Ell has spent most of his professional career working with entrepreneurs and small business, starting in IT consulting. He also brings a vast knowledge in marketing with experience in working with both large and small brands.

Adding to his degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Southern Indiana, Ell will earn a Master’s in Business Administration from Indiana State University in December.  He plans to use what he learned in these classes to help small businesses and entrepreneurs sharpen their operations and achieve success.

A native of Evansville, Ind. Ell has been married to wife Brooke, a Registered Nurse, since 2016.

Ell will begin his new role in early October.
