Former First Lady Judy O’Bannon To Visit Terre Haute

On Thursday, January 23, Former Indiana First Lady Judy O’Bannon will be downtown at 4pm for a ceremony commemorating the 20th anniversary of her gift of a Hoosier Millennium Tulip Poplar Tree to Terre Haute. That tree is planted just north of the Crossroads of America historical marker at 7th and Wabash, and it is thriving.

When Judy visited in 1999, our downtown was still struggling to reinvigorate itself. The Downtown Business Association, made up of merchants, property owners, government representatives and other citizens, organized themselves into Downtown Terre Haute. The downtown has come a long way in the last two decades, thanks in large part to the community’s commitment to the Main Street philosophy.

The event is free and the public is welcome.
