CIB Launches Online Presence

As part of its continued effort to provide the citizens of Vigo County and Terre Haute information, the Capital Improvement Board (CIB) recently launched a website, which will serve as a hub for communications involving the CIB.

The website will host future meeting minutes, provide links to news articles, and contain information on the CIB’s projects including downloadable documents and studies. As part of the CIB’s communication plan, they have also launched a Facebook page in order to provide regular updates to the public through social media and plan to be creative in how they disseminate information.

“We recognize that the CIB needs to be communicating where people already go to find information, and that is online and on social media,” states Vigo County Commissioner Jon Marvel, President of the CIB.

The CIB, a partnership between the City of Terre Haute, Vigo County, and the Terre Haute Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, was created to be a standing group of leaders who would strategically choose projects to advance the economic vitality of the community. The CIB’s primary guiding principle is to invest in projects and opportunities that will create economic tourism, a more robust quality of life, and advance West Central Indiana. The Vigo County Commissioners passed an ordinance in 2016 establishing the CIB as a seven-member board, with no more than four of the seven members to be affiliated with the same political party. The County has four CIB appointments, and the City of Terre Haute has three appointments.

“I’m pleased to see us making progress for our community. Sharing information is a vital part of including the citizens in our way forward,” stated Mayor Duke Bennett.

Community members that comprise the CIB include Judy Anderson, Vigo County Commissioner; Duke Bennett, Terre Haute Mayor; Greg Gibson, President of the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau Board; Jon Marvel, Vigo County Commissioner, President of the CIB; and Steve Witt, President of the Economic Development Corporation.

The CIB can be found at www.vigocountycib.com and @VigoCountyCIB on Facebook.
