Chamber to Host Luncheon with Senator Todd Young

Terre Haute, IN – The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce will host United States Senator Todd Young (R-IN) for a luncheon on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on August 21.

Young, currently serves on the U.S. Senate Committees on Finance; Foreign Relations; Commerce, Science & Transportation; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Previously, in the House, he served on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Budget Committee, and most recently the House Ways and Means Committee.

The Terre Haute community recently saw Young, as he spoke at Chances and Services for Youth in May in favor of the Tobacco to 21 Act. Senator Young, along with Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) are among the US Senators that introduced the bi-partisan legislation which would raise the national smoking age. It would prohibit the sale of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, to anyone under the age of 21.

“We are very fortunate to have Senator Young visit West Central Indiana again in such a short period of time. His commitment to understanding the needs of our communities is clear,” says Chamber President Kristin Craig. “Events like this give the business community the chance to have an ongoing conversation regarding federal issues that are impacting their operations on the local level.”

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and Terre Haute Savings Bank will serve as the event sponsors.

The Le Fer Ballroom will open for registration and networking at 11:30am, with the program beginning at noon.
