Chamber Seeking Nominations for Women’s Excellence in Leadership Award

Terre Haute, Ind. – Nominations for the annual Women’s Excellence in Leadership Award are now being accepted by the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce.

The award, first presented to 2020, was meant to coincide with the Terre Haute Women’s Conference. Due to COVID-19, the conference has been hosted virtually twice and the award presented during small ceremonies. The honor recognizes a woman who has distinguished herself in her profession, workplace and community. This year’s honor will be presented at the Terre Haute Women’s Conference, sponsored by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

The 2022 conference is scheduled for Friday, March 11 on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. .Tickets and tables are available by clicking here

“The Terre Haute Women’s Conference is a wonderful event that celebrates, educates and inspires women in West Central Indiana,” says Chamber President Kristin Craig. “We’ve only had the chance to host the conference once in person, twice virtually, so needless to say, we’re anxious to present this award in person, on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.”

Deadline for nominations is Thursday, February 17, 2022. A short nomination form can be found online.

In 2021 the Chamber honored Union Health Chief Nursing Officer Rhonda Smith. In 2020 Union Health General Counsel Amy Hock (formally with First Financial Bank) received the award.

This is not the Chamber’s first time honoring women in business. In the past the organization presented the nationally recognized ATHENA Leadership Award®. Traditionally this award was presented during the Chamber Annual Meeting in August.

ATHENA Leadership Award® has previously honored several outstanding women in the community, including: Sister Barbara Doherty, Marilyn Pendergast, Beth Tevlin, Sydney Bell, Jeanette Winchester, Becky Buse, Marla Flowers, Claudia Tanoos, Patrece Dayton, Sara Smith, Carol Roesch, Dottie King, Sara Arnett, Rachel Leslie, Barbara “Boo” Lloyd, Bernice Helman, Cheri Bradley and Susan Decker. Amy Hock was the first honoree under the new “Women’s Excellence in Leadership Award”, followed by Rhonda Smith.
