Attention Restaurants: THPD Sends Warning After Recent Break-Ins

Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce Restaurant Council Chair, Kelly Ford is urging local restaurants and Chamber members to be vigilant, after a series of local independent restaurants have been broken into this week.

After speaking with Terre Haute Police Detective Les Hamm, Ford called the Chamber to discuss getting the word out to fellow restaurant owners and managers. According to Terre Haute Police two males on bicycles have been targeting independent restaurants. They have broken windows between the hours of 2am and 6am. Hamm says they are looking for cash.

Terre Haute Police advises restaurants to not leave money or valuables out in the open, point security cameras towards office doors or a window that can be easily accessed by potential robbers. Detective Hamm also says that restaurants can request that alarm companies contact the police before calling the owner should an alarm be triggered. Hamm says by calling police the two males may be apprehended sooner.

Restaurant owners and/or managers with questions or information relating to this case is encouraged to call Terre Haute Police Detective Farron Stevens (812) 244-2249 or farron.stevns@terrehaute.in.gov .
