City of Terre Haute, Thrive West Central and Next Step Foundation Prepare for OCRA’s Recovery Housing Program Grant Application
Public Hearing Scheduled
Terre Haute, IN – The City of Terre Haute, alongside Thrive West Central and Next Step Foundation, gears up for its submission of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs’ (OCRA) Recovery Housing Program (RHP). The funds are a part of OCRA’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding program.
The city plans to request $600,000 in funds to be used to expand access to housing for individuals in recovery from substance use disorder. This will include the construction of a new facility that will house 20-30 women in recovery. Additional office and administrative spaces will also be constructed to provide sufficient programmatic support for the women in the new housing facility.
“We look forward to submitting an application for a project of great need within our community,” states Mayor Duke Bennett. “It is imperative that we provide the necessary resources, which include housing, for those willing to get the help they need. This application will address these needs. The city is grateful to have a player such as Next Step devoted to this initiative.”
The City will hold a public hearing regarding the project on Tuesday, October 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Next Step Foundation (619 Washington Ave. Terre Haute, IN 47802) to provide interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions and voice their views on the proposed project.
