THEATER 7 PRESENTS Charlayne Woodard’s Pretty Fire
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – February 8, 2018 – Theater 7 presents Charlayne Woodard’s Pretty Fire in the Terre Haute Brewing Company’s Velvet Room on February 16, 17, 18, 23 and 24.
Pretty Fire was originally a one-woman show by and starring Charlayne Woodard, in which she recounts her experiences growing up a woman of color in 1950’s America. Theater 7 will be performing a version of the script modified by Ms. Woodard to accommodate an ensemble cast.
At times funny, at others heavy, Pretty Fire features song, faith, and family, and is likely to leave audiences challenged but ultimately encouraged and uplifted by Woodard’s journey through the “pretty fire” of adversity.
Kimberly McMurray, who will play Charlayne, believes, “This story is filled with so many dynamic life lessons; lessons that will touch every human emotion. (Ms. Woodard) has truly bared her soul in this piece of art and laid the foundation upon which we will, in turn, bear ours.”
“Pretty Fire celebrates the strength, courage, and perseverance of the African-American woman. Also included are teachable moments that enrich and enhance the lives of everyone involved,” says Cliff Lambert, who, in addition to directing the play, serves as General Manager for Theater 7.
All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. except a matinee on Sunday, February 18at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased now at the ISU Hulman Center Box Office or at the Terre Haute Brewing Company one hour before each performance. In honor of its service mission, Theater 7 will donate a dollar of every ticket sold to a local charity benefitting the homeless in our community.
Theater 7 was introduced to the Wabash Valley during the summer of 2016.
