Salvation Army Seeking Bellringers, Adopt A Family Sponsors for Upcoming Christmas Season; Christmas Assistance Applicatons now being accepted.

The Salvation Army of Vigo County is current seeking bellringers (paid and volunteer) for the upcoming Red Kettle Fund-raiser and Adopt a Family Sponsors.

Red Kettle Bellringers
Since 1891, The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Fundraiser has been a key componenet to our fundraising strategy to better serve every community we are in during Christmas and all year long.  The Salvation Army of Vigo County is currently recruiting both paid and volunteer bellringers to assist in this year’s fundraising drive.  While we prefer volunteers for many reasons because they both eliminate payroll and double the average kettle income, we also recruit paid ringers to ensure every site is adequately covered.  Those wishing to volunteer can call our office at 812-232-4081 or visit RegistertoRing.com.  RegisterToRing.com allows volunteers to both apply and schedule themselves in available slots that meet the needs of their schedule.  For those looking for employment, please visit The Salvation Army during normal business hours (Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM) to apply.  Paid positions are seasonal from November 10th to December 23rd and are up to 40 hours per week.

Adopt A Family
The Salvation Army is also looking for sponsors for our adopt a family program.  The adopt a family program matches families in need with individuals, families, groups, or organizations who have a desire to give back to the community.  Adopt a Family Sponsors can specify the number of people in the family or ages of kids you would like to meet the needs of your family or organization. Adopt a family sponsors are asked to buy gifts for each child in the household and provide a gift card for a Christmas Dinner. Christmas Assistance Applications
Applications for Christmas Toy and Food Assistance are being accepted from on October 16-19 and October 23-26 from 10 AM to 12PM(Noon) and 1 PM to 3:00 PM each day. For individuals not available during those time, an additional time from of 4-6 PM will be held on October 18th and October 25.  Applicants must provide the following information:

All Applicants: Social Security Cards
Adults 18 and older: Proof of Residence, Proof of Income, State Issued Picture ID
Children under 18: Birth Certificate or Medicaid card.
