In addition to wearing green this month to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Novelis’ Terre  Haute employees are also wearing purple for a different celebration.

March is Women in Novelis month, an opportunity for the company to celebrate diversity, develop skills and serve the community. Women in Novelis (WiN) is an employee program aimed at supporting the professional contributions and careers of female employees at Novelis. Throughout the month of March, Novelis will host numerous events to embrace and leverage the company’s diversity. By providing a forum for everyone to participate, share ideas and network, Novelis is committed to accelerating the advancement of women at all levels of our organization.

Events in Terre Haute are well underway. Local employees met with an area middle school to discuss a Robotics program and other STEM projects. On International Women’s Day – which is March 8 – LT and Bonnie Thompson, owners of Wellness Box Inc. joined the company for a talk on work-life integration. More events are planned throughout the month.

“At Novelis, we want to embrace and leverage diversity by providing a forum for women to share ideas, network and help develop their careers,” says Connie Swalls, a nurse at the Terre Haute plant and the leader of its WiN activities. “WiN has been instrumental in driving new opportunities for employees and positive changes in policies and operations.”

Novelis is the global leader in rolled aluminum products and the largest recycler of aluminum in the world. Its Terre Haute plant is a world-class light gauge aluminum rolling plant and a recognized leader in the production of semi-rigid foil container stock and wide industrial fin stock.
