Do you use Instagram for your business? If you do you have probably noticed the most recent update for the social media platform, the stories feature. While many existing Instagram users seem to prefer to advertise their Snapchat usernames via Instagram stories, businesses are taking a different approach.

As a business you want to connect with your audience through different channels to provide a rounded experience. Many businesses, corporate and local, have existing Instagram accounts with an already built-up audience. Now, with Instagram stories, you can provide a similar service as Snapchat without the hassle of building up and audience again. The stories feature allows you to upload any image or video you have taken within the past 24 hours. Whatever you upload stays on the top of the Instagram app for 24 hours where anyone who follows you can see your story with one click. How do you take advantage of this?

  1. Make sure your app is up-to-date
  2. Open your Instagram app on the homepage
  3. On the top you will notice a circle icon with a + sign, click this
  4. You can now take photos or video and upload to your story
  5. Edit and upload!

If you have a photo or video saved in your camera roll you would like to upload, follow these steps.

  1. Repeat steps one through three
  2. Once you’re on the camera screen, swipe down and you will see any images and videos on your camera roll from the previous 24 hours
  3. Edit and upload!

These stories are their own collection and will not be displayed like a regular post would. To view someone’s story you can either visit their individual page and click their profile image, or view it in the top bar on the homepage. Instagram stories are just another way to integrate your social media and reach your target audience.
