Capital Funding to Increase Access to Patient Care

Valley Professionals Community Health Center was recently awarded $1 million in funding for facility renovation, expansion, or construction, and will utilize funds for expansion of its Clinton health center located in Vermillion County. Valley Professionals was one of eight Indiana healthcare facilities to receive the facility funding award, which totals over $7 million statewide.

Stated in a news release from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), HHS Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced on May 4 that approximately $260 million in facility funding was awarded to 290 health centers in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Health centers will use this funding to increase patient capacity and provide additional primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations. Funding will allow health centers to renovate or acquire new clinical space to provide care to more new patients.

Funding for these awards comes from the Affordable Care Act’s Community Health Center Fund, which was extended with bipartisan support in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015.

Valley Professionals is a Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to providing comprehensive integrated health care for all individuals, while promoting educational opportunities.
