It’s home to the Donut Burger and so much more.

Terre Haute restaurant Fifi’s Lunchbox is bringing unique, fun and delicious food to the Wabash Valley with it’s new location on Wabash Avenue.

If you think you’ve heard of Fifi’s before, you’re right! In September 2011 owners Claudine Hann and Jacqueline Ruff created a food truck and small location on Terre Haute’s northside. The business moved to it’s current location on Wabash Avenue, the former Rafter’s bar, in May 2015. Hann and Ruff completely transformed the space; giving it a vintage and comfortable feel with re-purposed tables and chairs and friendly decor covering every inch of the restaurant.

“I personally think the vibe is pretty cool,” Ruff says. “It’s stuff that we try to recycle and reuse a lot of stuff and you will see that when you look around. That’s our style. Using old doors, windows, we found some old church pews. Some of the tables are used from old barns and there is a table out there that is made from on old Amish cart. A lot of the stuff you will see around here has a lot of history.”

And it’s not just the decor that’s unique but the restaurant’s entire menu.

“We are comfort food with a twist, that is how we would label ourselves,” Ruff explains. “We want to take things that people are familiar with and just get real creative with them.”

With everything from bacon inspired burgers to salads to the famous Donut Burger made with Terre Haute’s Square Donuts, every customer can find something on the eclectic menu.

“We have a diverse selection of food, we have something for everyone, we are not just the place that sells Donut Burgers,” Ruff says. “That is a really general misconception of who we are.We do offer that but our whole philosophy and whole business model is to provide unique food items that you can’t find around here locally.”

Since opening this spring the duo has been busy training staff and getting the word out about the new location. So far the reception has been positive and not just for the lunch crowd. Fifi’s is open for dinner and serves beer too; making it a great destination for happy hour and weekends.

“This location has been great and the local community has been really supportive,” Ruff says. “We didn’t know what to expect when we opened the doors. You just never know what to expect. You hope that people would be knocking the door down but sometimes that is not the case, but in fact when we opened the doors this place was just been packed and praise God that it has continued to be packed… for the most part we have just been blessed with business.”
